‘Let’s Make It Happen’ – Aung La N Sang Responds To Yushin Okami’s Latest Callout

Middleweight MMA contenders Yushin Okami and Aung Ła N Sang

Yushin Okami and Aung La N Sang are doing their utmost to secure a clash inside the Circle.

The Asian combat sports icons continue to eye a bout that could determine the continent’s leading middleweight mixed martial artist.

In their latest exchange on Thursday, Japan’s Okami took to Instagram and added a caption aimed at the Myanmar superstar:

“Let’s fight! Let’s decide who’s Asia’s No. 1 in the middleweight division!”

In a comment on the post, “The Burmese Python” simply replied: “ONE Championship, let’s make it happen.”

The History Between Yushin Okami And Aung La N Sang

Both Aung La N Sang and Yushin Okami are clearly keen to square off, and the potential matchup has been building ever since “Thunder” joined ONE Championship in 2019.

Speaking last year, Okami admitted he was inspired by “The Burmese Python’s” performances in the organization, and that he had just one target in mind for a move back up from welterweight.

The 40-year-old Japanese legend said:

“When I thought about making a comeback to the middleweight division, the only fighter I wanted to fight was Aung La N Sang.

“I knew him before I came to ONE, and I respected him. He was the champion at middleweight and light heavyweight. The content of his fights were great, and I was proud of him as an Asian.”

The pair also verbally agreed to a duel on Twitter in 2021 after the former ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion mentioned Okami in a post-fight interview.

While both men were reverential toward one another, Aung La N Sang added that he was confident in his chances against “Thunder.”

The 36-year-old wrote to Okami:

“It would be an honor to share the ONE Championship Circle with you. But I don’t think you will beat me.”
