‘I’m Going To Electrify Lumpinee’ – Lito Adiwang Vows To Showcase Striking Against Danial Williams In Bangkok

Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang plans to outclass “Mini T” Danial Williams on the feet and move himself into the crowded strawweight MMA rankings on February 16 at ONE Fight Night 19: Haggerty vs. Lobo on Prime Video.

That pivotal showdown will take place in U.S. primetime at the Mecca of Muay Thai – Bangkok’s legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium – and Adiwang expects to deliver an electrifying striking showcase for the Thai fans in attendance.

A talented wushu stylist with eight highlight-reel knockouts on his resume, Adiwang believes that a win over the former WMC Muay Thai World Champion would establish him as one of the best strikers in mixed martial arts.

The Filipino star told onefc.com:

“We all know Danial always shows up to fight. We’ve seen him step up and compete against the best strikers in the world. I’m just thinking, he’s here to fight all the best strikers, and I want to prove that I belong on the list.”

Indeed, “Mini T” is an accomplished stand-up artist who’s competed in 33 combined Muay Thai and kickboxing bouts along with his 6-2 MMA record. And in his last two outings, the fearless Thai-Australian challenged for ONE Kickboxing World Titles.

“Thunder Kid” admits that Williams’ experience against the planet’s best pure strikers is impressive, but he’s not intimidated at all. Instead, he feels ready to present a problem that his opponent has yet to solve.

He explained:

“Sure, he’s faced a lot of World Champions, and I know for myself that I bring something different to the table. I’ll just have to show it in the ring.

“We can both be good strikers, but I believe styles make fights. I have a lot of things to offer that he hasn’t seen yet, and I know that’s my key to victory.”

Above all, Adiwang is aiming to take out Williams inside of the first 10 minutes.

And whether the stoppage comes via knockout or submission, he promises to deliver unforgettable action for as long as it lasts:

“If all goes well as planned, I know that I’ll be able to finish him by KO or submission. This won’t go past the second round.

“Expect that I’m going there with a bang. I’m going to electrify Lumpinee, entertain the fans, and get the win.”

Adiwang Hungry For MMA World Title Shot In 2024

If he’s able to get past Danial Williams at ONE Fight Night 19, Lito Adiwang will be riding a three-fight winning streak since his return from injury – and making impressive progress toward a potential shot at gold.

With reigning ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion Jarred “The Monkey God” Brooks set to defend his belt on March 1 at the blockbuster ONE 166: Qatar, and top-five ranked contenders Bokang Masunyane and Gustavo Balart both fresh off victories at ONE 165 in Tokyo, the division is getting plenty of shine and quickly heating up.

For his part, Adiwang says he’s targeting the elite next:

“The division is moving and I love it. It’s good for our division. I’ve visualized that by the end of the year, I’ll be challenging for the belt already. There are a lot of great fights for me in the future, like Bokang and Balart. I really want to face them.”

While “Thunder Kid” would be proud to see a number next to his name, he also says a top-five ranking is far from his ultimate goal.

The 30-year-old Filipino is focused on one thing and one thing only – earning a crack at 26 pounds of gold:

“I believe with this win I can get to the top five, but actually, whether I get in or not, my mentality would always be to smash the next contender and keep winning.

“For me, being in the top five doesn’t excite me. The only thing that excites me is winning, and getting that title shot. I don’t want to fight for some rankings. I want to get a World Title shot. That’s what will excite me.”
